What is Mugen?: M.U.G.E.N is a 2D fighting game engine designed by Elecbyte starting in 1999. Elecbyte distributed beta versions that ran under DOS, Linux, and Windows. The engine allows for anyone to create characters, stages, and other game objects through interpreted text files and graphics and sound compilations, and it also supports MP3 background music during gameplay. The engine is very powerful and flexible, allowing for the same type of functionality found in most any commercial 2D fighting game, such as the Street Fighter games produced by Capcom or the King of Fighters games produced by SNK.

I thought I would make a thread to see how many people here on Gaia have mugen and like to share information about it and characters that they have. So lets get this thing started then.

I have winmugen, the version of mugen that runs on windows, and I have about 20 characters right now. My favorite character on it has to be Elle, a custom made character that I have to say is pretty kick a**.

I was workin on gathering characters for my MUGEN but all the ones I wanted are no longer online crying

I gathered a pissload of mugen characters out of sheer boredom. Though, I really only played with the Melty Blood characters.

Ehh..I the nartuo characters I find are too short or they just have Naruto and Sasuke.

The ones I was real lookin forward to are the NamcoXCapcom, I only have Ryu,Lilith,Cammy, and Heihachi. I was also goin to start to try and find Melty Blood Chars.

I was gonna make a character called David Mishima for it, but i don't think i have what it takes to go all out just yet.

I would make my own character, but I started handdrawing frames and lost interest. Something about tracing paper makes me uneasy.

I thought about hand drawing the frames but I'd have to preform the task with my crappy mouse which doesn't respond properly.
I had the idea of editing already existing sprites(with permission)

Well, I'm such a noob artist, I'm pretty sure the animations would have came out wonky. Without professionaly experience, sprite editing seems like the only way to go.

But honestly, if I was making a game, I wouldnt want to use MUGEN. >_> I'd want to program it so that I could sell it like Melty Blood, you know?
