Children who live with both parents have better life chances than those who live in single parent households. To what extent can this view be justified?

Single parenting is rarely through choice, it doesn't need to be justified.

Children in two parent homes also have double the chance of being abused.

Lol, I love you Bouidicca.

It's very hard to be a single parent and it takes a special type of person to do so.

Namely my Mom.

A single parent I became after my divorce.
My children are great and proud of them? Of Course!

Both have a chance of being problematic (abuse, trauma, ignorance of child development, ignorance of mental illnesses).... and I'd choose to be a single parent simply because it's easier for me.

We all meandered through our schooling haphazard; so, to God be thanks,

I don't like this generalization. Children do best coming from happy, healthy, loving households. It really does not matter how many people are at the head of that household or who they are to those children.

...it's easy, without too much fooling, to pass for cultured in our ranks.

But could youth last and love still breed,
Had joys no date nor age no need,
Then these delights my mind might move
To live with thee and be thy love.
I was raised entirely by my mom. I don't know who I would be without her.

Being called "awesome" makes me smile, I admit.
But I know others on here think me a twit.

Some like me and hate me of this I am sure.
But I've never claimed that my soul is too pure.

For pissing off some is a pleasure I adore.

Kids do better when they have more support. Having two parents just helps this. The fact that there are two parents around isn't anything magical or special in itself.

.From within or without there's no way they can find us.
.When they knock at the door, the lights are on, but we ain't home.

I raised my mom alone and she turned out great.

You can have two parents without them being married. Being married doesn't make your relationship stable, and the inverse.

And if two parents are good, three must be better! But strangely, very few people seem to take this angle.

Depends on the parental relationship.

Damn spouse-greedy Mormons had to spoil it for all of us. pirate
