I personally think that Communism would help this broken Economy, because instead of individual wealth we all would share. The reason why Russia and China failed was because their borders were way to large. Russia and China needed to have a big army to protect they're big size. but with all they're attention on Military power and not on the economy itself which defeated the whole purpose of communism. They wasted all the peoples money on Military and didn't spend it so that everyone in China and Russia had a nice equal Life.
But the United states is Relatively smaller compared to Russia and China, so it would work better, and since we have some of the most latest technology I don't think military is a issue and if everything is equal for everyone there won't be any homeless people. As long as we keep a good balance of Military and Economy.

We need a balanced system where the government provides essential services where competition wouldn't be all that helpful, but private business covers non-essential things or markets where competition would be a good thing.

True, I forgot about that, but China also had a lot more people which made it even more difficult to distribute things equally. Plus China's Military was Weak in Military Technology like the Russians. But the United States is extremely well packed in Military and we wouldn't have to worry about it.

No, if communist countries encouraged a robot-run agricultural and manufacturing system and had the lowest human class as tradespeople, there'd be about 20x the professionals and 10x times the progress.

It doesn't take captialism to have progress. A socialist/communist system that discourages sitting on your a** when you could contribute and requires some form of post-secondary education would have more progress.

Farmers with PhDs in farming are more skilled and efficient anyway.

Not True, Russia had great Military Technology during the Cold War, they had better technology then us. But they spent to much time Producing and Maintaining these weapons, what I propose is to keep a Balance between the two, and since we are so far in technology we have a head start to just concentrate on the Economy. Just as long we don't spend to much time on either one we will do fine. Making everyone equal in our life would eliminate most of the depression in our country to.
