I'm looking for a book to read, I've run out of ideas. I'd prefer reading a series. Some books I've read and liked a lot are:
-Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel
-Maximum Ride
-Percy Jackson & The Olympians
-Harry Potter
So I'd say I'm more of a fantasy person. I like fantasies that take place in modern day. I don't like sci-fi or horror. Or vampire novels such as twilight. I think the age group I read the most are somewhere between elementary and young adult.

Hmm...modern-day fantasy...have you ever tried Peter S. Beagle? He wrote a very interesting modern-day fantasy, The Folk of the Air. And if you like ghost stories at all, you might consider Tamsin.

And a note about Beagle: you either love him, or you HATE him, but you have to try him to see if he's for you.

I really enjoyed reading Tad William's series OtherLand.

Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there, wondering, fearing, doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before.

i've recently been reading a lot of non-fiction, and realistic fiction.

so i'm currently craving some fantasy - of this genre, my favourites have been Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrel, the His Dark Materials trilogy, and American Gods.

i also adore the magic realism of Haruki Murakami.

thanks for anything you can suggest

try :
the alchemist the secrets of the immortal nicholas flamel
the magician the secrets of the immortal nicholas flamel

I will have to keep this thread in mind when I am done with the "Left Behind" series, although I do still have a long reading list a head of me. But if anyone likes vampire books that are out of the normal blood sucking creepy vampire I would recommend the "House of Night" Series by P.C. Cast it is really different from other vampire books.

just sayin love ur outfit!!!

My teacher told me earlier this week that I have to read more books. The problem is, I don't know what to read! gonk

I am looking for books in the fantasy genre (Something like Stardust ) and/or books that have a dystopian / utopian setting (Like The Giver or Downsiders).

If it helps, my new favorite book is The Night Tourist by Katherine Marsh. It is about a boy who goes into an underworld.

Thanks..
