"Rina!" A girl with short pink hair and red eyes shouted.
"Nani ga irimasu ka Anya?" Rina asked a bit annoyed.
"We need you to go and get Kamui." Anya said as she pushed Rina out the door. "You better not return with out him or I'll have your head for it!"
"Yeah, yeah, yeah." Rina said in a not caring way as she walked with her hands in her pockets.
"Do you think she'll get Kamui to follow him?" A brown hair boy asked.
"Of course Ronin." Anya said as she stared out the window.
"What about you Sojiro, think he’ll be able to do it?" Ronin asked.
"I guess." Sojiro said not paying attention.
"Why are you hating on him so much Ronin?" Anya asked as she turned towards him.
"I'm not 'hating' on him. I'm just asking." Ronin said in defense. "We all knew Rina and Kamui since we were kids and Kamui is NOT the type to be social."
"Hey! Don't talk about Kamui-sama like that!" A girl with long blond hair snapped.
"Oh shut it Kiyoko." Ronin snapped. "I don't know what you see in him."
"All right then Ronin." Anya said as a thought came into her mind. "Let's make a bet."
"Okay." Ronin said with a smile. "You know I don't like to back down from a challenge."
"If Rina is able to get Kamui to open up his cold a** heart in some way, you give me that new DS GAME you just bought today." Anya said with a smirk.
"And if I win?" Ronin asked.
    "Then..." Anya said thinking.
"You have to be my slave for one whole week." Ronin said with a smirk as a shiver ran up Anya's spine.
"Deal." Anya said with a smirk.
"Oh geez..." Sojiro said to himself. "Ronin is going to lose this one."
    "What was that?" Ronin asked.
    "Nothing!" Sojiro said.

About nine years ago, the person who took in Kamui and Rina was killed in the most gruesome way an eight year old could ever imagine. Kamui had always been the one to keep his distance from people not wanting to get them to close too him. Ever since that day, Kamui wanted to be left alone for the most part and would always push Rina away. Every since that day, Kamui was obsessed with finding the killer who had murdered their foster father.

"Kamui," Rina said as soon as he found Kamui standing over the gravestone of their foster father. "Kamui, I need you to come with me. It's important."
"Go away." Kamui said in a very cold tone as he knelt down in front of the grave with a faded name that started with the letter R.

Rina sighed dramatically, allowing her red bangs to fall over her eyes as her shoulder slumped slightly.

"Why did he have to be so stubborn? Why did he have to be so cold?" Rina shouted those thoughts in his head out of frustration. "Why did he have to be...to be...Kamui? Arg!"

Her eyes trailed up from their hiding place behind her hair and landed on the dark head in front of him once again.

After not-so-gently telling her to go away, Kamui went back to his brooding, staring at their father's grave as if it would provide some answers to the demons that lay deep within his heart. Part of him felt incredibly guilt for the rude and cruel way he had been towards his best friend, the one who had been through everything with him, but that was however a very small part of him. If Rina had actually cared as much as she said she did -a fact, which Kamui had sincerely doubted- then Rina would see that he just wanted to be left alone. Kamui knew that on some level of Rina’s infatuated mind wanted only the best for him, the same as their father. Although, wanting what was best for him 'was' the conflict. Apparently, their opinions on their father’s death were different.

    "Kamui-" Rina said again.
"Go. AWAY." Kamui spoke slowly and in a tone of voice that meant action if his demands were not met. Too bad Rina was one of those people he couldn't scare away that easily unlike others.

The red hair girl gave out a frustrated sigh and shook her head. She may love Kamui for his stubbornness and among other things, but sometimes it was just too much that she just wanted to kick Kamui in the head and yell at him.

"Stupid Kamui can't even see that I'm trying to make him happy. One should NOT be alone on their 17th birthday." Rina thought as she frowned. "Anya is going to destroy me. She got everyone waiting back at the Angel Cafe for Kamui's surprise party..."

Too bad Kamui didn't see it that way.

Kamui resisted the urge to roll his eyes. He wasn't that surprised by Rina ignoring his wish to be alone because Rina always did the opposite of what he wanted. However, it was slightly heart warming to know that Rina cared enough about him to put up with his mood swings.

"Cares enough to put up with me...that's the infatuation talking." Kamui snorted to himself. "She sees me as nothing more than a pretty best friend to swoon over. If she knew the dark side of me, she wouldn't be so loving."

Kamui's thoughts were cynical as he prepared himself for a long haul, knowing Rina wasn't going to leave him anytime soon.

"She has too big of a heart for her own good..." Kamui thought with a sigh.
"All right Kamui." Rina said quietly.

Kamui was startled out of his trance of staring at the tomb by Rina's quiet voice. Quiet...there was something wrong. Rina was never the quiet type when it came to him, but then again it was only because he had hurt Rina's feelings. Rina didn't sound hurt at all, just silently frustrated and worried, like always. Frowning, Kamui stood from his crouching position in front of the grave, turning around as he did so.

"Nani?" Kamui asked. "What was the idiot talking about? All right what?"

Rina took in a deep breath and tightens her hands in her pocket.

"I can see that you really want to be alone...so...I'll leave." Rina said.

Kamui just stared at Rina in surprise.

"She was...leaving? But she never left!" Kamui thought to himself as a sort of panic settled in the pit of his stomach. "Why does this irritate me so much? Being isolated is what I wanted and she's finally giving it to me! But why the heck is it irritating the hell out of me?!" Suddenly, anger surged over him, replacing the confusion and panic. "What the hell am I thinking? I don't need anyone! Least of all a silly teenage girl who was supposaly in 'love' with me!"

"However, before I leave you alone, I wanted to give you your birthday present." Rina said pausing and then exhaling loudly. "Come on Rina, gather you courage."

Rina moved her hand from her pants pocket towards her vest pocket. This was it. It was the moment she had waited nine long years for. It was time for her to tell Kamui how she really felt. She knew that Kamui just thought her love for him was just a crush like Kiyoko's but Kamui was wrong. Rina saw the pain that day they received the news of the murder, the loneliness, the darkness that dwelled inside of Kamui 's heart. She could see it in Kamui 's eyes. All she hoped for was that all her effort wouldn't go to waste. That today she was going to make Kamui see that she really did love him.

Kamui watched Rina pull something carefully out of her pocket. His curiosity had got the better of him. Kamui hasn’t gotten a birthday present in a long time since he resented getting any gifts from anyone since their foster father’s death. That was the thought that cause Kamui to scowl. By the time he had broken away from his angry thoughts, Rina had retrieved the item from her pocket and thrusted it into Kamui's hands. A pretty shade of pink came across Rina's face and Kamui could see that she was embarrassed or nervous or even both. With curiosity creeping back into his mind, Kamui peered down at the object that was now sitting in the palm of his hands.

It was a small red origami paper folded into a shape of a heart. Written in small letters in blue ink in the center of the heart were two words.

    My Heart.

Again, confusion came over Kamui as he stared at the origami paper heart.

"What is it suppose to mean?" Kamui thought to himself.

Knowing Rina as well as he did, he was still bewildered at the meaning of those two words that were neatly written.

"My Heart? What the heck does she mean by that?" Kamui thought to himself.

Before he could ask, Rina began to speak again.

"I know you probably think that my feelings for you are only a crush thing and that I only care about you because of how you look, but you're wrong Kamui. I love you for you and there is not a single thing that can make me change my feelings for you. Ever since Otosan was murdered, I noticed the loneliness and pain in your eyes. You pushed everyone away, including me. I only want to help you Kamui...so I'm giving you the only thing that might be able to you drive away the loneliness...the pain...the anger...I'm giving you my heart Kamui. I don't know what you are thinking but Otosan wouldn't like you acting like this either, he wouldn't want you to push me or anyone else away because of his death. He would want you to live your life. I only want what is best for you Kamui and if you think it is best for you to be alone then so be it. I'll be going now." Rina said in a rush.

Rina turned around and prepared to leave. She couldn't believe that she just said all of that to Kamui. Where had the courage come from for her to say that? Rina just shook her head and instead of staying around to hear Kamui reject her again, she hurried forward in an attempt on disappearing before the shock wore off.

However, before she could even get three steps, a hand firmly grasped her wrist tightly, successfully cutting off her attempt to escape.

    "Rina."

Rina froze at the sound of her name. It sounded different somehow. Kamui had said her name plenty of times but this time was different. Slowly, Rina turned around so that she was now facing Kamui who still had his hand firmly around Rina's wrist. What she saw was surprising. Kamui’s head was bent forward so that his black hair shadowed his eyes. Rina couldn't read his expression at all because of it.

Kamui was surprised. Not because Rina was able to gather the courage to tell her that she loved him but because she could tell that he actually meant it. Rina had always told Kamui at least once a day and Kamui shook it off as if it meant nothing, but now he knew that wasn't true. Maybe she did see the good and the bad in him. Kamui's icy heart melted slightly at the sight of the heart clutched in his right hand. Rina had given him the one thing that meant the most to him. Kamui finally understood what those two little words meant and cursed himself for not realizing it until now.

"It's...time for a change...even if it is only a little bit..." Kamui decides as a tiny smile tugged at the corner of his lips.

Rina was staring at Kamui, trying to get a fix on his emotion but before she could say anything, Kamui began talking again.

"Rina." Kamui stated again as he lifted his head up so that his eyes were looking into Rina's confused gold one.
    "..."

With one firm tug on Rina’s wrist, Rina found herself stumbling towards Kamui, falling against his chest and her blush had intensified at the contact.

“Ka- Kamui..." Rina stuttered as he blinked at Kamui owlishly, her lips somewhat parted.

Kamui 's eyes darkened, moving down Rina's face to rest on her parted lips.

"Maybe softening a bit wasn't such a bad idea." Kamui thought as a smirk grew on his face.

As to acknowledge Rina's question, Kamui lowered his head and brushed his lips across Rina's.

"No...letting her in wouldn't be a bad thing at all." Kamui thought.

Just when Kamui was going to deepen their kiss, they heard footsteps running towards them. Rina suddenly froze when she realized what she was sent out to do.

"RINA!" Anya screeched as she stomped her feet towards her. "WHAT THE HEL- Kamui!"
"Hello Anya." Kamui said with a smirk.
    "Go-gomenasai Anya." Rina said nervously.
"Don't sweat it." Anya said with a smirk. "I'm just happy to see you together again."
    "..."

Anya smiled as a smirk appeared on Kamui's face. They three of them made there way to there friends where Anya rubbed her victory in Ronin’s face because he lost the bet they made.

“In your FACE Ronin!” Anya shouted as she pranced about.
“I hate you so much.” Ronin growled.
“Aw, I love you too.” Anya said with a smile.

Rina started laughing and Kamui looked down at her. She looked up and smiling a lovely smile. He couldn't hope for a better Birthday gift.
